Fading Black

Feeling at a loss for words that day / Tried to express it, didn’t know what to say / Only echoes of words came trippingly off the tongue / Stumbling around the world, stomping through the mud.

My final confession was a strange one, that’s true, I said, “Dear God, please forgive me for believing in you” / About the rest of my life, sometimes I don’t care / Just a bird on the wing in dark foul air.

Feeling just a little acidic that day / Tried to express it, didn’t know what to say / Over the edge, just might have come undone / Run like a rabbit, under the gun / To some the way I’m living is a sin and a crime But truth survives judgement Laughing sublime / Could be the only difference between primate and slime is just a bit of DNA And a very long time

My Mouth Hurts

My mouth hurts and I'm drooling

Nobody understands the things I say

I am going to say them anyway

I need me a bottle like the one you fix up

With your special mixture and your magic touch

I know it is going to take just a few minutes

But I can't wait

My mouth hurts and I'm drooling

No one understands what I say

nihilistic blue

Just another day Just another planet Another solar system Another galaxy Floating through the universe On some universal odyssey Got those nihilistic blues Nothing means anything to me

Some say patience is a virtue Laziness a sin Wise man said it's vanity Chasing after the wind Going nowhere fast Lost in the future's history Got those nihilistic blues Nothing means anything

Don't need no more reason Don't mind about the rhyme Two things I need most More money and more time Wading in a world of wealth Rich and poor – such a crime Got those nihilistic blues Nothing means anything to me

last walk

i’m going to take my last walk down those tracks again to meet the light i’ve been hoping to find, the one that’ll put an end to this twisted misery, bring me some sweet peace of mind

i’m going to walk straight ahead on that cold steel rail, never going to look behind, my coat will be open to catch the wind as it passes, i’ll smile when that light starts to shine

then i’ll jump off that rail, run hard down those tracks, each tie a world of tears left behind, i’ll spread my arms open to meet the light that i’m hoping will bring me some sweet peace of mind

when i hear that low rumble, i’ll let the walls finally crumble, there’ll be an end to this aching inside, the whistle will sound such a sweet melody as i run toward the end of the line

when that train finally passes, there’ll be small traces and fragments that might be found at rest between the ties, a piece of my coat and the last thing i wrote, mingled with the smiles of a world left behind

i’m going to take that walk soon before the light and the moon leaving me wondering why i was born just to die, i’ll pick up the threads of a life so mislead, twist them into some sweet peace of mind

Some Say

Been wised, been fooled, Played it hard played it cool, Toed the line, Broke those rules, Skated by, paid those dues

Tripped, fallen, gotten up, Fallen in love, seen love rust, Been on the streets, diagnosed, Out-lived predictions, still not a ghost

Left eveything, spirit called, Climbed the mountain, my soul enthralled, Dark night came, I cried alone, Veil lifted, light shone

You might find yourself on the floor, You might find yourself out that door , If you knock you'll be let in, Come share a smile again and again, Others might try to reign you in, Promise you heaven make you a child of them, You know already we're not alone, We're all together here flesh moving bone

Some say that there's no more than this, Some say the other side is best, You might think that you're right on track till they try to take the shirt off your back, Some say that they've seen the light, Some revel honestly in the night, We all feel things that are hard to express, You can talk to me I will not put you through the test

Push the button

Let’s push the button, Push it hard, push it fast, Let’s start a fire, Burn our way out of the past

Racing toward the future, Living for today, Enjoying our good fortune, Lucky every day, Living all the way

We can make it happen, Make it sweet, feeling fine, We can take our chances, As far as we can, Cross that line

Racing toward the future, Living for today, Enjoying our good fortune, Lucky every way, Give it all away

Now is the time, this is the place, right here, The light is shining through, Love has opened every door, Touching me and touching you, One forever more

One in love, Too in love, Free to love, All four love

Let’s push the button

So this is freedom

in the land of the free, living and loving life in the land of opportunity; they say we're all free here in the land of the free; aren't we living and loving life in the land of opportunity?

Here in the land of freedom you're free to speak your mind, but not to loud now don't wake up the people, be careful about that party line; in the land of opportunity anyone can make it to the top, no one seems to be watching now where will all this progress stop?

In the land of freedom some say there is no poverty; we got plenty of money to go around so we spend most of it overseas; well, if you can't pay the rent you're free to live on the street and if you can't find a job you're free not to work not to eat

they say that is your freedom here in the land of the free; aren't we living and loving life in the land of opportunity?

Yeah this is freedom here in the land of the free; aren't we living and loving life in the land of opportunity?

Here in the land of freedom anyone can make a buck; if you can't stand up in the ring you can bet on your own good luck, and if you can't pay the rent your free to live on the street, if you can't find a job you're free not to work not to eat

in the land of opportunity anyone can make it to the top, but they don't seem to be looking now; where will all this progress stop?

in the land of freedom you're free to speak your mind, but not to loud now don't wake up the people, be careful about that party line

yeah it's good to be free here, here in the land of the free; aren't living and loving life in the land of opportunity?

yeah, we're living and loving life in the land of opportunity

yeah, that's your freedom here in the land of opportunity

the albert hoffman song ~ God is a Chemist

on an afternoon of fool's play in the year 1939, there goes silly Albert Hoffman on his magic carpet bike; time dissolved to ocean in the caverns of his mind, as his torso turned to spirals reaching for the sky

god is a chemist chemicals you and I, we all need a little chemistry, it help us to get by

and the daylight plumed to color trailing softly from his eye, disconcerted Dr. Hoffman met his magic problem child, drifting through the spectrum spreading atoms of his life, disembodied Albert on his magic carpet bike

just a chemist learning to get by, we all need a little chemistry it helps us to get by

thus began the revolution that so sadly went awry, paisly children in confusion there is no solace in a lie; the answers key is intuition, when you feel your judgment begin to slide ride, along with Albert Hoffman on his magic carpet bike

god is a chemist chemicals you and I, we all need a little chemistry it helps us to get by, just a chemist chemicals you and I, we all need a little we all need a little just a little bit, just a bit of chemistry it helps us to get by, just a chemist chemical you and I, we all need a little chemistry it helps to get by

Starting to feel a little like Frankenstein, Think I’ll throw the dog some meat, There’s a little left over and I’m sure she’ll enjoy it, Although it’s a bit too chewy for me

Starting to feel the wind pick up, As I’m watching the sun go down, Chattering birds and barking dogs, Red flowers and orange grey clouds

There’s a bit of the monster in everyone, Deep in every heart that beats The rhythm of life as we feel the sway Back and forth turn around on your feet

Starting to feel the pressure again, Floating back in time, Some many channels, so many frequencies, Sometimes you've gotta close the door, turn out the light

Sugar Shack

Sometimes I want, I want to sail away, Hear what the future has to say; Sometimes I want, I just want to hide, Sleep till tomorrow, Dream of happy times

Sometime I just want to get back to the foxes’ den And the sugar shack, Run through fields to that shady grove, Watch the sky turn colors, Feel the soft breeze blow

Life just is life is not just life Life just is life is not just life Life just is life is not just life, Life is now wide awake in the night with us

Sometime I just want to get back to the foxes’ den, And the sugar shack, Run through fields to that shady grove, Watch the sky turn color, Feel the full wind blow
